TIMOFEI SMIRNOV was born in 1980, in Moscow. Graduated from the State Art Institute named after Surikov ; Ph.D in arts. Lives and works in Moscow. In his works the artist tries to melt the present and the past. He pulls up characters and whole compositions from the paintings of well known artists of the past and creates surrealistic collages. Smirnov calls himself a “metarealist”.
