GREGORY MAIOFIS 1970, Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) 1986/1989 : professional training at the Leningrad Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (The Academy of Arts) named after Ilya Repin 1991/1996 : lives and works in the USA 1999 : starts working with digital photography and video 2000/2001 : turns to classical black-and-white photography, use of classical black-and-white print technologies; makes experiments with coloring his photo-art pieces; starts working with alternative («noble ») techniques – print on salted paper, bromoil ,etc. 2006 : wins the Betty and Jim Kasson award, USA Works present in: - Houston Museum of Contemporary Art (USA) - Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (USA) - Fine Art Museum of Santa Barbara (USA) - Slovak National Gallery (Bratislava, Slovakia) -12 regional state art museums all over Russia
